about Denis Savelyev

Denis Savelyev, Ukrainian-born, is an acclaimed international soloist and chamber musician known for his remarkable talent and ability to engage audiences worldwide. With awards such as the New York Flute Club Competition, the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, and the 'Rising Star' at the 2021 Galway Flute Festival, Denis brings a unique charisma to the stage that resonates deeply with the audience. Denis Savelyev is Altus Flutes Artist. 

Originally from Lviv, Ukraine, Denis began his musical path at the age of five. He honed his skills at prestigious institutions such as the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow and Mannes College in New York. He holds Master’s degrees in music and curatorial studies from Bard College and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University.

Denis has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and has worked with conductors such as Neeme Järvi, Fabio Luisi, JoAnn Falletta, Gerard Schwarz, Rossen Milanov, and Leon Botstein. He was a participant at the Marlboro Music Festival in 2023 and 2024.

His orchestral experience includes the Mariinsky Theatre Primorsky Stage, The Orchestra Now, Manhattan Symphonie, Palm Beach Symphony, where he served as Associate Principal Flute, and recent appearances with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra.

Denis is also a member of the Ukrainian-Polish Duo with pianist Radosława Jasik. Their debut album, recorded in Italy and released in 2024, features Ukrainian and Polish repertoire and has received excellent reviews.

In addition to performing, Denis is active as an educator and has recently joined the faculty at Bard College as flute ensemble instructor. His work brings together Ukrainian heritage, European tradition, and a deeply personal artistic voice.
